The best-looking next-gen game around

Reviewed by Death_In_A_Can on January 12, 2007  |  report this review

I won this game from Sayswap's Christmas contest, and it's great. The boxers are realistic down to the finest details, so much that a non-videogamer with untrained eyes couldn't tell the difference between this and real life. Not to mention, the gameplay is great, too. Using the control sticks to punch and maneuver feels solid and flows perfectly, plus it means that the game takes skill. Wildly flinging the control stick around won't work here. The selection of boxers is kind of slim (only five or so boxers from each class) but considering how much detail was put into them, it's no surprise. The only place where the game lacks is sound. The announcers often repeat the same exact phrases, or speak in the present tense when you're fighting a "classic fight." There are only two trainers that say the same things over and over. There is only one white boxer in the whole game, yet the voices for characters (the Red side gets voice 1, the blue side gets voice 2) sound like they come from white guys. Also, there is only rap music in this game, which isn't even music at all. Even with these complaints, who cares about sound? The game is great for anyone who likes fighting games or boxing.

Doesn't get better than this...

This is the best boxing game out there. The PS3 really brings out a detail so realistic that it makes this game that much better. During the CutMan minigame, you see every pore in your fighters face and it keeps the action real. This is one of those games that keeps you coming back for more and the more you play the harder it is to put the controller down. Online play is solid and is where the game really becomes the fighter. If you got or getting this game, see ya in the ring.

Loads of funs and more when you play against friends!! At first the game may seem a little boring and difficult to get the hang of, but once you understand how to work your boxer the game quickly becomes a session of laughs, amazement, and fun.
There are 2 games at the moment that i recommend for the PS3 and that is Resistance and Fight Night... A must have for PS3 owners

ok ok, a boxing game now im not a big boxing game fan but i was taken back by this,
in all fairness playing this game not in HD u may as well be playing any boxing game but in HD this game comes alive.
spit n teath no longer streeks that dissapears its a feast for the eyes especially when you hit that deadley haymaker, BOOM !
u can really feel the power you just put into your opponents face, you can see the fighters face ripple from power as his mouth is punched to one side and some impresive spit n teath fly out as he drops to the mat.
now on to game play, the career mode is well thought out as u get the insite to a boxers hard training ect, but at the start dont be put off by you gettin floored its only because your boxer isnt fast enough ect but when you get him up to a world class leval this game is a knockout !!!!!!

This Game Is Fire.

I bought this game as soon as it dropped for the PS3. I already own Fight Night Round 3 for the PS2, as well as Fight Night Round 2, and Fight Night 2004. I've been playing the Fight Night series from the start. Each game always takes a step foward and never a step back. And Fight Night Round 3 for the PS3 proves that the moment you get into your first fight. Graphics are fire, gameplay is realistic and it's really easy to learn. Not to mention the PS3 exclusive, "Get In The Ring," which is a first person view of the fight giving you the feel that you're actually there. I like the Get In The Ring mode, but I myself would rather play the original way. I hardly ever play offline, unless i'm putting it on someone I know in person. But for the most part, i'm online. I am an experienced player and I am in the top 10. So hopping into the online was nothing to me. But all in all, the game is fire, and has alot to offer. In my opinion, a must own for a fan of boxing. The game is never repetitive online because you're always playing someone new. The sound is amazing coming through my surround sound. The picture quality is fire coming from my HDTV. Out of all the games I own, Fight Night is usually in my PS3.
