Wii sports puts you right in the game

Reviewed by Smaug317 on March 21, 2007  |  report this review

First off, this is the game that comes with the Wii when you buy it brand new. It has 5 different games on: Tennis, Baseball, Bowling, Golf, and Boxing. You create a "Mii" of yourself and it puts you right into the game!

Graphics: 7/10 Simplistic looking yet it's really cool to see yourself in the game.
Sound: 9/10 The sound coming from the Wiimote is really cool. It just puts you right in the game.
Gameplay: 10/10 Swing the Wiimote like a bat, a racket, a club, or use it as a boxing glove!

Overal: 9.5/10

Pros:

You see yourself in the game!
Great multiplayer.
It comes free.
5 different games to play.

Cons:

The graphics could have been better.

I was really impressed by how 'unique' this game made the Wii look. People are always complaining about their kids being lazy by playing games. Now they can play sports videogames with no need to sit down. The graphics were pretty basic, but hardly detract from the incredible gameplay of Wii Sports. Plus, its free!

This game was the first one that i ever played on the wii. It was so awesome, i ended up playing it off and on for nine hours. Tennis is my least favorite because the raquet swinging isn't realistic, but other than that everything is just like real life.

Every time you swing the Wii remote, the tennis racquet moves with it. Because of this, you don't have to remember which button does what, as you do with all other systems.

this is the first game i played for wii and i love it! I mean it really makes you break a sweat, especially the boxing! Everything is extremely realistic (not quite the graphics , more the motions and actions), and so much fun!!! I would suggest this game to any family, or a group of friends.. lots of good times!! :-) This game really captures the use of the wii mote, and what the wii is all about!

Graphics- The graphics are really nice for the game. They weren't trying to make it realistic. The graphics are awesome and defintely enjoyabe to watch players play with no arms. Graphics get a 5/5.

Gameplay- This game shows you how amazing and fun the Wii really is. The controller is your racket, bat, hand, club, and gloves. The gameplay is the best I have ever seen. Gameplay gets a 5/5.

Storyline- N/A

Online- You can find some people playing, but the Wii isn't known to much for its online gaming. Online gets a 5/5.

Everyone who comes over to my house, loves this game. It's fun and easy to just pick up and play with some friends. Even casual gamers can get into it. If you have a Wii and somehow didn't get this game, you need to get a copy of it.

Wii Sports pretty much DEFINES what the Wii experience is all about, getting into the game and having fun.

Wii Sports is a collection of 5 minigames based on sports. Boxing, Bowling, Tennis, Baseball and Golf. All of them require the Wii Remote's motion sensor to be played. The experience is as realistic as you make it. In some games the motion is implemented better than others.

The game also implements the use of Miis, so you and ur friends can see ur cartoonish selves hitting each other and playing with balls. :)

This game comes with the Wii anyway (except for Japan) so it's a great deal, and it's fun.

I got a wii in november and played this game a ton and then stopped every once in a while to play other games but I come back to this and have a little fun. It is great because everyone has there favorite sport or there best sport (Mine is tennis with 2149 Skill Level) but they also play the other ones and most of the games being up to 4 player brings so much fun. It also has its single player things such as training where you try to get all golds and believe me it is very challenging. Also you try and get to the pro level in all the sports (All I have left is Golf). Last of all Wii Fitness. Comparing your age to your friends brings short laughter but also trying to reach the lowest age of 20 is very difficult but even harder is maintaining it.

When I first got the Wii I did'nt really think that this would be a good game because it just came with it but I was totally wrong! All the mini games are very fun (except golf........... kinda boring) and utilize the Wii remote in all of the games. I like bowling a lot and the sounds coming out of the remote is so realistic! All of the controls are are very easy because it's mostly movement. Boxing will really give you a work out after a while:) When you create a Mii you can put it into the game that your playing like your there! The Wii training is really tough to master and the wii fitness is very fun trying to get the lowest age.I've been playing NINTENDO systems my whole life from N64 to Gamecube and know the Wii and I have to say NINTENDO has always brought me a lot of fun. good job NINTENDO!

Not bad for an included game

This game is a great start for the wii. Each game uses the wiimote's motion abilities. Great fun for short games or a party atmosphere.
The only drawback is that each game is too basic.
The tennis only lets you hit the ball, not control the player.
The baseball game is just hitting and pitching, no fielding.
The other 3 games are pretty straightforward, but lack real depth.
Overall, a very fun package, but if you are looking for a real sports experience, you will end up buying a different boxing, tennis, baseball, and golf game.

Nintendo could not have chosen a better game to package with the Wii. It really shows off what the Wii can do, and it's really fun! My favorite is Bowling. It has great physics and it really fun throwing the ball! My next favorite is Tennis. Serving is fun, and being able to give the ball spins and curves really adds to the game. Baseball is really fun too. Hitting has never been more natural in a game, and pitching is quite fun! Boxing is quite fun too, though at times, unresponsive. It only is if you punch rapidly. It gets quite challenging and you'll need strategy to beat some of the better computer players. Golf is really fun too, but very hard. Swinging is easy, but you hit it too hard too easily and putting is a bit challenging at times. The training games are really fun too! Each and everyone of them showcase an awesome aspect of each sport and are really fun. The Fitness Test is just a random three training games, and once you finish, it gets you a Fitness Age. The game is very very fun and the motion controls are perfect. This is a great game to be bundled with the Wii and I would even pay money for it!

Sweet game for any person

Wii Sports is a great all round game. The graphics are ok but not awesome. THe gameplay is awesome. I can play tennis, bowling, and baseball for hours. It is fun trying to reach PRO status and harder to keep it. I love this because anyone can play. My dad who has never played anything can play bowling. Nintendo had a great idea in this game. This is the best free game that has ever com with a system in my book. I love playing this. It is also a great party game. It brings out the competitive spirit in anyone. I have a friend who owns a PS3 and now wants a Wii after playing this. He asked how much I paid and wish he would have bought the Wii

Well for one you get it for free when you buy your Wii which is always a plus. Next with five different sports to play it doesn't get boring all that fast. It has bowling, baseball, boxing, golf and tennis. Each one uses the Wii-mote ina different way like the boxing, You have the Wii-mote and Nunchuck connected and each one is one of your arms. So if you thrust the Wii-mote you thrust with your arm. If you thrust with the Chuck you thrust with the other arm. When you lean both the Wii-mote and Nunchuck its like your player is leaning to the side to dodge attacks. So all in all I gave this game a 8 outta 10.

Wii Sports? Try Wee Sports

Reviewed by Liquidd on March 27, 2008  |  report this review

The way I determine whether a game is for me or not is by who likes to play it. For example, in my home, I love to play Final Fantasy series, Dragon Quest series, Resident Evil series, and games along those lines. The kids in the home aren't really keen on those type of games. They would much rather play Batman: Vengeance, Beyond Good & Evil, Bully, Kingdom Hearts, and Wii Sports.

In short, if you are what you play, then Wii Sports is a great game if you're a kid. The graphics are definitely 'kiddie" styled and while there is some replay value within the games, it is not enough to keep me interested in this title as a whole (at least not $60 interested). If the game had not come bundled with my Wii, I doubt highly if I would have spent any money on purchasing this lackluster title.

A Must for any Wii Owner

Reviewed by BloodAngl on September 09, 2008  |  report this review

The multi-player accessability for going to a party and pulling out a game that anyone can pick up immediately and have a ball with makes this game a standard in any Wii owners portfolio. I find it best suits newer players to the Wii and helps people dive in to playing a new console that /could/ be intimidating at first.

Let your friends play!
