Mario sports games are always crazy, but it could be said that the pudgy plumber's first foray into the world of traditional football in 2005's Super Mario Strikers for the GameCube wasn't quite crazy enough. As goofy a game as it was, the dearth of the true Mario brand of wacky was apparent, and the game suffered for it. Mario Strikers Charged for the Wii is essentially a sequel to that game, and its first and foremost goal seems to be to amp up the crazy factor. Developer Next Level Games has certainly succeeded in this area, though the final product ultimately resembles less the game of soccer and more some kind of psychotic episode of flaming balls, thunderous hits, and flying shells coming from every which way. Sometimes this chaotic gameplay gets a bit messy, and some of the gameplay elements, like tackles and the artificial intelligence in single-player, aren't perfect. Still, if you can get a grip on the action, you'll find Charged to be an addictive multiplayer game, especially if you plan to take it online.
Much like the original Strikers, players begin by selecting a team captain from primary Mario characters such as Luigi, Bowser, Peach, Daisy, Wario, and, of course, Mario himself. There are 12 captains in all, each with unique stats in movement, shooting, passing, and defense. Once you've got your captain, you then select three teammates from the lexicon of lesser Mario characters (Shy Guy, Monty Mole, Birdo, and the like). For those who played the original Mario Strikers, you'll note that this is different from the team selection in the last game, where you could only pick one type of teammate. Here, you get to choose three different ones, and they're every bit as varied as the team captains. They even get their own unique megastrike shots, the big power shots that goaltenders tend to have a difficult time with, which you can pull off by holding down the B button.
Of course, they're not quite as powerful as the captains' shots. While someone like, say, Boo can essentially go transparent and try to fly his way past the goaltender, and the Hammer Brothers can toss a gaggle of hammers at the goalie before eventually kicking the ball, these shots are not guaranteed to go in. But the captains' shots are a whole different ballgame. When you hold down the B button long enough with a captain, a golf-swing meter pops up that begins by counting up toward the number six. This actually determines how many balls you're going to fire at the goaltender in rapid succession. The meter then swings backward, and depending on how well you time the button press on that return swing, it'll be more or less difficult to stop the forthcoming shots. Once all meters are set, your captain leaps into the air and starts firing off shots like some kind of Dragon Ball Z castoff.
Against the artificial intelligence, you're practically guaranteed at least one goal out of the proceedings (though you often end up landing more), but when you're playing against
Highly addicting, Great multiplayer!

This is my favorite Mario sports game BY FAR. This is also the first Strikers game that I played. And let me tell you, this game owns.
The gameplay is pretty crazy, but believe it or not it has quite a lot of strategy to go along with it. You need to perform some very tricky and demanding moves to get the win. Even with Mega Strikes and sidekick moves, don't think that you'll have much time to pull those off, especially with level 3 and higher CPU players and any other strikers player which has some sense. Oh no, you'll need to set those moves up perfectly.
As well as that, on the defense, you need to think harder about your strategy. You have to guard all corners, cover every enemy, and open up an exit to attack later.
Don't worry if the gameplay seems very straightforward in the beginning. You'll probably be blasting away your over-powered moves again and again and again. Well, enjoy that for an hour or two, because the tougher the competition gets, the more strategy you need. (I learned that the hard way.)
Ahh, and the amazing multi player. Online play is awesome still, as expected from a Nintendo product., all though there is still the occasional disconnecter. But what amazes me most about it is the opening up of so many more strategies! My friend and his brother have quickly figured out how to use their partnership to win. Me, playing alone, had to figure out how to beat it. It's quite a challenge.
Overall, this game is amazing. You'll be hooked to it almost the instant you play a match. Even more so when you get a taste of online play. (Playing against your friend's is much more rewarding, however. ;-) ) Recommended to any sports lover.
it's alright

The game is a wonderful game but can get somewhat tedious at times.
Single player mode would be just for a feeling of accomplishment and unlocking stuff such as artwork or characters for off line mode. The road to the striker cup will make your life hell.Once your in the second tournament the crystal tournament you'll just want to put it down. The strikers challenge (something like that @(>_>)@.)are too easy im a beginner in the game but i can win against it.)
\Begin My Thoughts/
Single player mode could be better if it were like mario tennis mario power tennis mario golf and the other golf games (may be others but those are only ones i know.)What i mean is you are an human and you are in a league trying to get to the top and singles and doubles. Also such as in mario power or advance tennis (dont remember name) in the end you can go into a hidden place where mario and his friends have tournaments.
\End My Thoughts/
Multiplayer mode is a must or wi-fi connection.Wifi matches should not be accepted if three stars or lower of connection quality because U DONT WANT TO HAVE LAGS.
\Begin My Thoughts/
story mode doubles could be a part of multiplayer?Ex:online tournaments
\End My Thoughts/

This game is a great sequal to the original game. The powerups are even more wackier and the special kicks are fun. I also love the fact that you can make specific characters to be assigned on your team. This game is worth buying or trading.
Wi- Fi

Without wi- fi, this game would be a 3 and a half star game. This game was very easy to beat in cup mode, domination mode and striker challenges. But on wi- fi, it is more fun and harder because there are a lot of people that play 24/7. I thought personally that I was good before i played wi fi. If you look at my record, it's like 10 and 32. Though, a little flaw that I have found is that there is only 3 main skills for the captains and the sidekicks. Your player can be a fast player, a medium player or a strong player. But, something good is that every player has a different superstrike, skillshot ETC. This game is much better then the gamecube one because you don't have to have only one type of sidekick.
Good Game

This is a good game. For all Mario fans this is a Must Play. It goes up to 4 players and also had Season Mode, (which is not easy). A game well worth your time. My rating, 4 Stars.
okay game

If you are a fan of mario u will probably like this game but it is not good if u actually like soccer. It is really hard to socer without the little megastirke or the specials. Then controlls aren't very good either. If u want a good game, get the first mario strikers for gamecube. It has an opion to turn off the super strike + super strike isn't as cheap. It is easier to score and the goalies aren't as tough.
okay
