Open Season is based on the movie with the same name, in the main roles you will find the tame bear Boog, and the deer Elliot that find themselves in the middle of the forest in hunting season. Trying to find the way back home to the town Boog lives.
In the game you pick up badges and acquire Wild Style Points. The missions are pretty linear and repetitive, you pick up points and scare away hunters. As you progress in the game you become friends with certain animals in the forest that will help you scare away the hunters, either rabbits which you can throw at the hunters and they will stun them, a skunk will make them run around and squirrels will throw acorns at them and distract them. With the wild style points you collect you can buy skill upgrades for Boog.
The graphics in the game are solid, nothing to write home about though. I have had no frame rate problems or anything of that sort. The characters look decent, and so does the environment. Sound and voice acting isn't that good, the whole thing feels empty, no real emotion. I guess that's why you can play your own songs ingame.
In the end it's an average game which targets a younger audience, and the achievements are easily obtainable. The game is pretty short and can be finished in 5-7 hours depending how you play.
What The Bloody Flippin' Hell?
I've always thought cartoon-movie-based video games were dumb, but this game had proved me wrong. I only wish that there was a negative five rating, because this game would take the cake.
