Starfox: Assault Review

By: UndeadOverlord
Price: $49.99
Rating: T (Teen)

Presentation
A great presentation, free of bugs (other than the aparoids, sorry about the corny joke) and glitches. The game runs smoothly in most parts, The Menu's are very cool and stylized. In my experience I have seen only one bug, very small but a bug nonetheless, The bug was in level 10 there is a part where the game lags for less than a second, but other than that the game is completely smooth.

Graphics

The graphics in this game are very good, an advancement over the earlier “Starfox Adventures”. Screenshots don't do the game justice, it looks great when playing. This game also has the option to use progressive scan mode which enhances the graphics quite a bit. The game has a number of cut scenes which look absolutely magnificent. Even the normal game play looks quite good with a variety of places from space to a small forest to a large city. The vehicles in this game are very slick and look magnificent especially in the cut scenes, The reflection off the metal from the ships makes them look great. I’d say this is one of the best games out on Gamecube right now in terms of Graphics.

Sound
The sound in this game isn’t amazing but the music always matches the scene from a tense space battle to a sad cut scene. Also many of the character’s voices have changed for the most part the voice acting is very good the only thing that annoyed me was Leon’s new voice it’s to high pitched for a cold-blooded assassin, his old N64 voice was better But other than that the Voice acting is actually very good.

Game Play/Replay Value
This game is very good in these terms. The game has ten levels. each level usually consists of 2 or 3 sections. The levels are decent in length but still they aren’t as long as everyone would’ve wanted, but even though there are only ten levels the game is still very fun. The Arwing missions are very good while the on land missions aren’t completely perfect, but even still the land missions I find very exiting because your weapons aren’t usually as powerful and you can go in any direction you want. There are many weapons you can use ranging from a normal blaster to a gattling gun. Me personally I’ve beaten the game about three or four times now, but even though the game may be short it has a great replay value. The game has three difficulties in the story mode: bronze, silver, and gold. Each is harder than the last. Also there is a survival mode which challenges you to beat the game in one run without saving or anything. Also in every level there are medals, depending on which difficulty you are doing the hit requirements will be different. As well as the bronze, silver, and gold medals there are also ally medals which you must earn in every level by keeping your allies alive. The last thing there is that contributes to the replay value is there are five S-Flags in every level. If you get all of the
